I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I
trust you are faring well at campus and everything is alright. Congratulations
upon taking that step to confess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your
life. That is the most important decision you will ever make in your life and
you will live to taste the eternal fruits. Heaven rejoices when one sinner
turns to righteousness, there is great joy in heaven among all the angels
because you gave your life to Jesus Christ. "I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one
sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need
no repentance" (Luk 15:7).
I would encourage
you to open the scriptures and study them daily as if God was going to set an
exam for you tomorrow. The Word of God is life both physically and spiritually
and you need to feed your spirit so that you may grow in the knowledge of God.
God has placed so many marvelous promises in His word which are just waiting
for you to discover . Every area of our lives is covered in the Bible and it is
our Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth (B.I.B.L.E.) The word of God is the
food you need to feed your spirit with daily, "Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have
esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food” (Job
23:12). Take time off every day in a quiet place and read at least two chapters
of the Bible. God will reveal His mysteries to you and give you the
interpretation of what you read. Make notes concerning the scriptures you have
read and compare them with other similar verses in the other books of the Bible.
God expects you to study the Word diligently so that you may not be ashamed at
the judgment, "Study to show
thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth” (2Ti 2:15). You need to preferably save money
and buy a King James Version of the Holy Bible also known as the Authorized
Version or at least a New King James Version (NKJV). Another helpful additions
to your study library is a Bible Concordance. You will find the word easy to
understand when you ask God to reveal it to you by the Holy Spirit.
Form there we
come to another very important aspect of your walk with Jesus which is prayer.
God desires to communicate and have fellowship with you. This means that we
need to set aside time from our busy schedules to speak to God as our friend
and lover. You are now called a child of God (son or daughter), you have
received this privilege because you surrendered your life to Jesus by believing
in Him and confessing Him as the Lord and Savior of your life. "But as many as received him, to them
gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on
his name" (Joh 1:12). Since you are a son of God, He now considers you
above a mere servant, you are now His friend, "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not
what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have
heard of my Father I have made known unto you” (Joh 15:15). Our Heavenly
Father may be a furious punisher to some, an unknown power to others but He is
a Daddy and a Friend to you. Take time every day to take your needs to Him in
prayer, He will only answer when you call upon His name, "Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Phi
4:6). God wants to hear and answer you requests as long as you ask Him to
fulfill them in the name of Jesus Christ, "And
in that day ye shall ask me (Jesus) nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall
receive, that your joy may be full" (Joh 16:23-24). Ask God for anything you desire in prayer and
believe you receive it at that very instant. When you ask God you will surely
receive from Him, whether it is a financial need, emotional need or spiritual
need. God wants to help you in your studies if you are a student so that you
may excel in class and pass and also he desires for you to excel at your work
place if you are working, all He is waiting for is for you to ask Him and He
will help you. In everything you do, remember not to put your trust in your own
strength or rely on others, you need to fully rely on God, "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in
man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he
shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but
shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and
not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose
hope the LORD is" (Jer 17:5-7).
God has promised
to help us in every way but you also have a role to play in your spiritual
growth and physical development. God expects you put in all your effort in
whatever you do. He expects you to read you books with all your strength and to
fulfill all your duties at your work place since He blesses the works of our
hands. A lazy man or woman is never blessed by God but finds everything in his
or her life in a mess, take note of the lesson King Solomon learnt when he
bypassed the field of the lazy man, "I once walked by the field and the
vineyard of a lazy fool. Thorns and weeds were everywhere, and the stone wall
had fallen down. When I saw this, it taught me a lesson: Sleep a little. Doze a
little. Fold your hands and twiddle your thumbs. Suddenly poverty hits you and
everything is gone!" (Pro 24:30-34). God expects you to put in your
best effort in everything you do. Whether it is reading, working, praying,
attending fellowship, studying the Bible or preaching you need to do it with
all you heart and then the Holy Spirit will take over and play His part. "And whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall
receive the reward of the inheritance; for ye serve the Lord Christ"
(Col 3:23-24), this is God's will for you; to do all you do to the best of your
ability and He will surely make you to prosper. This is what the Bible speaks
about a King in Judah called Hezekiah who reigned 726-697 B.C. and worked with
all his strength, "And in every
work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in
the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and
prospered" (2Ch 31:21). You too will prosper when you pray and do His
will with all your heart.
